Multifolds 4 : Pocket Cards

Hey everyone ...a very good morning  ...hope you all have been doing good and crafting a lot as I have been for sure.....there are more stuff coming up soon...very soon as I working on them currently... :)

Coming back to the Multifolds post ...as said before since the swap was all multifolds I did a few experiments or rather variations in the folds that I could manage ...like in the Step Card ...though you must not have seen much of variations in the next two folds ...simple reason being in telescopic there is not much scope of variation that one can try ...and the 3 D pop card was too new for me to experiment on the basic structure ...but like the Step Card I could try my hands with some variety on the POCKET Cards...

This is the normal pocket card that I usually end up doing most of the time...

The insert.....

This was a complete experiment for me....I wanted to do a blend of criss cross and simple pocket so I took a 12X12 Card stock and punched it around with my Lucky 8 punch and scored to form the flaps to overlap and chopped it at 4" to form a 4x4 card! It gave a very nice border too on the top and the sides....

The insert is stamped with two background stamps with two different color inks....

I took a Kraft card stock and added two half flaps of a label 8 die cut from either side and in the middle added a felt flower with some flourish die cuts.....

The insert is stamped with a background stamp

I tried to create a T shirt shaped pocket card and inserted  two tags instead of just one...

With the inserts out.......

The point of experimenting with a simple pocket card to try some variations was to see if I could come up with something different keeping the basic idea of the fold intact...and the experiment surely gave me a kick!!!

Hope you all try your hands to variate some of the typical folds to create some variety :)

Multifolds 3: 3D Box Cards/Pop Up Cards

I hope you all have been liking the two sets that I have shared till now...and if you didnt you are free to tell me your views so that I see another perspective to my cards! Today am sharing a fold that I tried for the first time thanks to Tee....I was struggling with the choice of my last and fifth fold and she sent me a link and a pic ...the moment I saw the pic I knew I wanted to do this fold for sure!

The fold is awesome but the problem was the size that we had to do -4x4! Its an odd size which does not allow you to do any embellishing on the background ...and even if you emboss etc it will hardly show...but the problem starts when you feel this and decide to leave it blank...then in the overall effect it looks too blank!Sticky problem there!!

The trick that I would suggest in case you wanna try this fold in the same size 4X4 is that you create a seamless background and then decide to embellish the front so that the overall effect is elevated....never ever do the fold and choose your PP and stick it...actually that would be the worst thing to do for any fold or even a simple card but specially for this card its a sin to choose the PP and stick it....

You will get a clearer picture when I explain it with the individual cards...

I had planned the PP colors and the stamp that I wanted to have.....but soon realised in my trials that there was a lot of blank space look where as there was not much space in actuality to embellish (only half inch on both sides and top too...). After staring at it for a while the only solution I had was to stamp a few extra balloons to embellish the side....

This is what the fold looks like....

I faced the same problem again..... and this was the best solution I could come up with- BLING!

The side view....

I wasnt so happy with my first two attempts so decided to do something else with the fold.. .I took out my script background stamp ..inked with yellow and stamped on white card stock ....took another stamp ..inked with green and stamped over it and then a tim hotlz flourish stamp with a  brown ink...have a look !

I really loved the effect ....but soon realised that the finished stamped hand created PP cannot be the front flap as it was too busy to further embellish! So I re did the first two layers of stamping only for the front flap....added the sunflowers and the flourish die cuts ....I liked what I saw ...atleast a better effect than the first two!

The side view....

After the above card I knew exactly what I wanted to do for my last card.....

The background PP is hand stamped....using grid stamp from Kaisercraft with yellow ink and the butterfly clock script stamp is a second hand wood mount stamp  I bought from a friend inked with olive green ....the bird cage and the bird are die cuts...the two red flowers are stamped ...added a stick pin and a feather with a touch of bling to give it a wholesome effect....and I loved the outcome!

The side view....

This fold was a total experiment and I have learned from my mistakes ...and by rectifying it ...I could finally come up with something that I was satisfied with!!! I just hope I have been able to help a few out there who would want to try this fold to avoid the mistakes I did and plan their card a lil better than I did! :)

Multifolds 2: Telescopic Cards

Hi all...am here again to show you my telescopic cards from the swap set .....this was the easiest set as not much of calculations were involved here...I just had to get the right size of scallop and circle dies to do the needful...what actually kept me busy was choosing the card stocks...as the circles would be nesting within each other to form an overall look ..it was really important for me to choose the right colors to make it look bright and nice!

Thats the set.....

See what I meant when I talked about the colors of the cards stock....The top is a Unity Stamp stamped with the Tissue Paper technique....one of my favourite techniques in stamping!!!

The open view....

The Disney Princess theme telescopic card...

The open view....The swirls are directly stamped onto the card stock and the princess are stamped on a separate card stock and then fussy cut and stuck to the card base....

The Tinkerbell themed telescopic card...

The open view....done in the same fashion as the princess theme telescopic card ...all images are colored with Koi waterbrush color pens

This was an odd color combo but I liked it a lot...

The open view ....simple stamping and a lil bit of 3 D glaze pens....

Tomorrow I shall be sharing a 3 D box card/ pop card...whatever you call it :)

Multifolds 1: Step Card

I have been crafting like a crazy bird for our swaps at Swap Central India....It had been a lovely thought when we decided that we should try and do multifold notecards...as in all participnats would have to choose any 5 kinds of fancy folds and make 4 cards of each fold but embellish it different (so that makes it 20 cards in total) and to challenge ourselves and to drive us out of our comfort zone we made the size of the finished card as 4X4....but what we never realised was that by doing so we have turned this into the most difficult swap we ever planned!

Not only where there calculations involved to downsize a normal multifold card...but a lot of planning needed to embellish them. What had looked like a small 4x4 space suddenly turned into a big deal of a space where I myself (though one of the ideator and coordinator of the swap) went blank and also the number 20 was now a huge task! And to add to it I was crafting after a long break of 3 months so to remove the rust on my mind and hands also took time.....

Anyways I did manage it well....and in the days to come I shall share each set of folds in  a day! Here's my 20 cards that I sent over ....

Today I shall share the Step Card.......my idea through out the swap was to try and variate as much as I could with the folds keeping the basic idea of the fold intact.....

Thats my set of 4 Step Card....2 two step cards and 2 one step card!!!

I think in this card I used up most of my new dies that had just arrived and a few that I had not opened in December! The hot balloons and the fence die  are from memory box and die-nemics respectively and the butterfly set is a die and coordinating stamp set from Sizzix... The grass is hand cut and the clouds are hand made.

The side view...

Another scene created ....with the help of dies and stamps... the houses and the car are Hero Arts Stamp while the clouds and the tree is a die-nemics and memory box die respectively.....the two steps have pattern paper ...sorry I really dont remember the name of the paper stack :( ....

The side view....

The tree die has been double cut in green and brown card stock and stuck to give a double edged color feel....

This is a one step card....the orange and pink background is the effect of my new found love - "Dylusions" :) and the bicycle is a die cut....

 Thats the side view....

Thats how it opens up....what I learnt later was this could be called a "z" fold card but to me it was a one step card....I think I should read up more on folds I guess.....

I flipped the above step card horizontally to get this card done.....

 The side view.....

Now thats my one fold complete....watch out for the other folds in the coming up posts...Hope you all liked it...Feedback and comments are most welcomed as always and tips to improve are even more looked forward to!!!

And for all those who shared their experiences with me over making projects and editing photos...I believe we all are on the page same!!!!! Thanks for writing in :)....
