Miss Bluey

I wonder which is the toughest part....making the project or clicking pictures ..editing it and then transforming it into a blog post! Well, for me ...am lost when I have to click pictures and write about it...let me know the toughest part you guys face...

When I started crafting I thought Vintage was definitely a tough color tone to work with until I discovered that there was more to vintage than just black, brown , whites and off whites....to know more click here.  But as I tried vintage I realised that mixing colors ...finding the right contrast was a tougher job at hand until I had to work with monochromatics!!!

Yes, I found monochromatics to be the toughest ...not because you have to work with one hue but because you have to make sure that though you are using one hue (or max at times combining it with whites, blacks, greys) each and every element you use to show itself! The elements should blend with each other in totality but at teh same time should not lose their individual identity and their importance in that project! Phew...now that's a tough job!

I worked on a tag for a swap at 2 Shabby Sisters Studio and that's what am sharing today....its had to be a monochromatic 6x4 1/2 tag and my partner wanted a blue tag....so here it is...

The base is a cereal box ...layered with a lot of medical gauge cloth used to tie bandages....with a lot of  mod podge , dylusion sprays, acrylic colors (Teal, Turquoise, Light Blue, Cerulean Blue) and glitters! I allowed it to dry for about 5 hours till it was ready to work on....

My next thing while the tag was drying was to prepare the other elements I intended to use... I got this Itsy Bitsy flower and painted it with the same solution that I had prepared to paint the base ( mod podge , dylusion sprays, acrylic colors (Teal, Turquoise, Light Blue, Cerulean Blue) and glitters!) and a layer of blue net available with me from a diwali packaging I got from Balaji Telefilms during my job at Star Plus! It pays to save gift packaging at times!

The next thing was to take two beautiful grey colored Itsy Bitsy butterflies and paint them with the same solution (mod podge , dylusion sprays, acrylic colors (Teal, Turquoise, Light Blue, Cerulean Blue) and glitters!) ....Please remember the challenge was to have a monochromatic tag with the same shade alone....of course when I say same solution the proportion of colors varied so that I could create tones of the same hue! The quote you see is self made to match the theme....as I used a lot of blooms and the Tim Holtz Clock die at the background (hope you noticed that)... I first painted a white Fabriano card stock with my prepared solution (with the glitter) and then took a print out before I stamped over it with SU blue ink...and then die cut it and added the bling!

Closer look at the sentiment....

The medical gauge cloth mesh with the clock die.....

The left over of the Fabriano card stock I painted was used to die cut the flourishes ....

A flower created with the net and a brad added to hold it in place!

Added ribbons and laces to give it a final touch and am off to send it to my friend who stays in United States...woohooo....

Let me know what you think of the tag!!!!!

Oh my gosh!!! ...who could have guessed that such a small tag had to undergo so many techniques and layering ..though i have to say you have totally succeeded in making each indiviual feature pop inspite of it all being Monochramatic !!! this is just Amazing work and so beautiful too !!
Well for me card making is a long tedious process ...i keep changing my mind atleast 10 times before completing my final piece and then comes the tough job of photographing it ..this one takes even more time as i am never satisfied with just one click !! phew !!

I have a hard time making tags as I find it so challenging to decorate such a small space! This is one of the most beautiful tags I've ever seen, I love your choice of monochromatic blue for this vintage look!
